LAST MAY POLICE RECEIVED DNA EVIDENCE FROM THE STUDENT’S CAR THAT MATCHED DAHMA AS FOR THE LATEST COVID-19 NUMBERS, 236 NEW CASES ARE BEING REPORTED IN THE NINE COUNTY AREA, WHICH IS CLOSE TO HITTING THE 8000 MARK IN TOTAL CASES. SOME NEW CASES ARE COMING FROM THE JACKSON COUNTY JAIL DOWNTOWN WHERE SHERIFF -- AT THE SHERIFF SAYS FIVE NON-INMATES HAVE TESTED POSITIVE. IN JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI, THE 14 DAY AVERAGE HAS INCREASED NEARLY 4% SINCE JUNE 1. JOHNSON COUNTY, THE 70 AVERAGE HAS INCREASED NEARLY 3% IN THAT SAME AMOUNT OF TIME. THE NUMBERS ARE NOT SHOCKING TO LOCAL HEALTH DEPARTMENTS. >> WE HAVE TO KE ON PHYSICAL DISTANCING, AVOID LARGE CROWDS. >> THESE PRECAUTIONS ARE NECESSARY AND THEY ARE GOING TO HELP US AVOID GOING BACK TO A MORE STRICT PHASE. YOU CAN LOOK FOR MORE COVID TESTING FRIDAY IN JOHNSON COUNTY KANSAS. THERE IS A DRIVE-THROUGH TESTING FROM 9:00 TO 1:00 AT CHURCH OF THE RESURRECTION OFF 135TH IN LEAWOOD. IT IS FOR ANYONE WHO LIVES OR WORKS IN JOHNSON COUNTY. THE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT TESTED ALMOST 700 PEOPLE AT THE LAST DRIVE-THROUGH TESTING EVENT WHERE 18 CASES CAME BACK POSITIVE. KRIS PLACES THAT SERVED AS COOLING CENTERS REMAIN CLOSED, AND THAT IS BAD NEWS FOR KANSAS CITY’S HOMELESS. KANSAS CITY’S HOPE FAITH ORGANIZATION IS TRYING TO OUT MOVING SERVICES OUTSIDE OF HER SOCIAL DISTANCING.
