Oracle Co-CEO Mark Hurd Dies At 62

Hurd had helped lead Oracle since 2010, having previously served as CEO of Hewlett-Packard.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — Mark Hurd, co-CEO of the software company Oracle, died on Friday at 62, CNBC reported.

Hurd had taken a leave of absence for unspecified health issues in September. "I love Oracle and wish you all success during my absence," he told employees.

Hurd's tenure at the Redwood Shores-based corporation was largely successful, with Oracle's share price increasing by 37% since he became co-CEO in 2014, according to CNBC.

"Oracle has lost a brilliant and beloved leader who personally touched the lives of so many of us during his decade at Oracle," company chairman Larry Ellison said in an email to employees, CNBC reported.
