A Tuscaloosa man and an Emelle woman died in separate traffic accidents in West Alabama, according to state troopers.

Mitchell Wayne Britt, 37, of Tuscaloosa was killed in a two-vehicle crash around 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Pickens County.

Britt was driving on U.S. 82 when his 2016 Jeep Wrangler collided with a 2021 Hyundai Tucson driven by a Gordo woman.

Troopers say Britt was ejected after his Jeep left the road and overturned. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Britt was not wearing a seat belt, according to troopers.

The driver of the Hyundai Tucson and a passenger were not injured in the crash.

In the other fatal crash, 29-year-old Keyundria S. Jones of Emelle died in a three-vehicle crash at around 11:45 p.m. Dec. 30 on Interstate 59 in Greene County.

Troopers say Jones was driving a 2014 Dodge Avenger when her car hit a 2011 Toyota Avalon that was parked partially on the road.

Jones' vehicle spun around and collided head-on with a 2013 Dodge Ram. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The drivers of the other vehicles were not injured.

Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division are continuing to investigate the circumstances of both crashes.
