LAS VEGAS - Air Force senior boxer Clell Knight (Justiceburg, TX) took the 165-pound title over Navy's Josh Sandborn at the Las Vegas Invitational on Friday, Oct. 31, in Las Vegas, Nev. The invitational featured boxers from five NCBA schools - four representatives from the west region (Air Force, UNLV, California-Berkeley and Nevada) and one school from the east region (Navy).

Knight, the Falcons' team captain and the only AFA boxer on the evening's card, earned the decision over Sandborn in the 165-pound weight class. Sandborn, who had defeated Air Force's Rene Prieto on Oct. 4 at Annapolis, was no match for the quick speed and combinations of defending national champion, Knight.

"Knight was controlled and used lateral movement and great combos to stay ahead of Sandborn on points," Air Force head boxing coach Eddie Weichers said following the match. "The two had several crowd-pleasing exchanges, but Knight's speed and combinations proved too much for Sandborn."

The Falcons return to action on Friday, Nov. 7, as they host eight boxers from service-academy rival, Army. Matches will begin at 4:30 p.m., in the Upper Boxing Room of the Cadet Gym.

Results from Friday's match:
165-lbs. - Clell Knight (Air Force) dec. Josh Sandborn (Navy)
