The Best Online Mattress Sales for Memorial Day

Just about all of our WIRED Recommended bed-in-a-box mattresses are on sale right now.

On top of everything else you might be dealing with during the pandemic, if your sleep is disrupted by an old, uncomfortable mattress, it might be time to consider an upgrade. Quality mattresses generally aren't cheap, even on sale, and bed-in-a-box makers are notorious at always having a sale going of some kind, but the Memorial Day discounts on all our favorite mattresses are slightly better than the other sales throughout the year. Labor Day will likely be the next good time to purchase.

Helix Sleep's Midnight Luxe Hybrid Mattress is one of most comfortable beds Reviews Editor Jeffrey Van Camp has tried. It was the only one to literally put him to sleep while testing—in the case of mattress testing, that's a good thing. Its individually wrapped coils are firmer in the areas that need it; but it's expensive even on sale, so it's truly a luxurious option.

  • The Allswell Supreme Hybrid Mattress was comparable to mattresses costing $2,000 for half the price. It's now 20 percent off with code MEM20. The standard Allswell Hybrid Mattress was the cheapest good mattress we tried, at just $375 (which is always an awesome price), but it's not currently on sale.

  • If you don't want to think anymore, go with Casper’s Hybrid Mattress. It is a good choice for almost anyone. You can get 10 percent off now, and the sale runs through June 1. The longer we sleep on this mattress, the more we appreciate it. Casper's Standard Foam Mattress popularized the bed in a box idea, and it's still a comfortable all-foam choice, but we liked the hybrid version with coils better.

  • The Birch Natural Mattress—also made by Helix—is great for stomach and side sleeping, and comfortable enough for sleeping on your back. Plus it's eco-friendly. It's now $200 off with code MDWS20.

  • If you're looking for a firm mattress, Brooklyn Bedding’s Signature Hybrid Mattress is the best option, and you can get 25 percent off with code MEMORIAL25.

  • Not sure if you need soft or firm? Layla’s Two-Sided Foam Mattress offers both a soft and firm side so you can test the waters and choose what's best for you. It's currently $150 off and includes two free pillows.

  • Tuft & Needle’s Mint Mattress is good for pressure relief and is currently 15 percent off.

  • We liked Tulo’s Mattress because it's affordable and customizable with soft, medium, and firm options. Its queen size is normally $700, and right now it’s $300 off.

  • Leesa’s Hybrid Mattress is one of our favorites and you can get anywhere from $150 to $300 off, depending on the size.

  • Side sleepers will do good with the Nectar Mattress and it currently comes with a mattress protector, sheet set, and two pillows included in the price.

  • We likened the Purple Mattress to lying on a bunch of waffles made of soft stretchy silicone. It wasn't quite as comfortable as the hybrid mattresses we tried, but it's still a competitor and is now $100 off. Purple does have a hybrid mattress, but it's expensive.
