HURT SO BAD

My partner left me after his cancer diagnosis — only to shack up with my sister

DEAR DEIDRE: AFTER finding out he had cancer, my partner broke up with me.

He said that he could not cope with his illness and a relationship. I wanted to help him get through it, but he said no. I was heartbroken but tried to understand.

We had been happy for five years and were planning to get married, even talking about having a baby. I am 24, he is 27.

But now I have found out he has been in a relationship with my sister, who is 27, and is going to move in with her. They have been seeing each other for six months.

He always said he loved me but now he refuses to even talk to me. He has hurt me deeply but I love him so much.

DEIDRE SAYS: If your partner does not want to get back together, you cannot make him change his mind.

It is painful but it would be better to get your life back on track as a single person and move on.

My e-leaflet Mending A Broken Heart will help you.

Receiving a cancer diagnosis can make someone review their life and make big changes but you deserve a much more caring and honest man than your ex.
