Suez Flushing Hydrants In Downtown Toms River
The fire hydrant flushing will continue through the end of the week.
TOMS RIVER, NJ — Suez, the water company that serves much of Toms River, will be flushing fire hydrants in the downtown area of Toms River through the end of the week.
The flushing began Tuesday and will be performed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through Friday.
Suez said it notified customers by robo-calls and that the areas to be flushed can be seen on the Suez web site map (mysuezwater.com).

The work will be from Lafayette Avenue and Route 37 south to Flag Point Road and east to Cranmoor Drive and Brookside Drive. Crews will work as far west as Magnolia Lane, Central Avenue and Grand Avenue.
The flushing process removes harmless minerals that collect in the water mains, Suez said. As a result, residents may notice a temporary drop in water pressure or the water may appear cloudy. While the water is safe, customers may prefer to wait until the water runs clear before drinking or washing clothes or dishes.

Running the cold water from the lowest point in the house or business for several minutes typically clears the lines.
Suez apologizes for any inconvenience during the project.
