(WTNH) — What do furniture, bedding toppers, horse saddles, NASA spacesuits, makeup sponges and seats in the U.S. House of Representatives have in common?

All of them contain latex foam made from rubber trees that are manufactured by KTT Enterprises in Hamden. It’s Chief Executive Officer is Nancy Coffey.

Coffey’s “Sleep On It” mattress topper is a favorite for college kids around the country to make their beds all that much softer while they’re away from home.

“Latex foam is made from rubber, that’s what latex means is rubber. Egg crate and memory foam are made out of plastic, they will never decompose, latex foam is biodegradable, anti microbial and dust mite resistant,” said Coffey.

Coffey’s company gets their liquid latex from from rubber trees in Malaysia. The material is then brought to the United States where it is compounded in Georgia, before being shipped up to Connecticut where the process is completed in the KTT factory.
