Majestic Cars got off to a great start in Group Two of the Nasser 9 Football Tournament routing Al Museef 5-1 at Khalifa Sports City Football Stadium.
Star player Sayed Hassan Kadhem, who won the best player award, scored once in each half while teammates Faisal Sadoon, Hussain Ali, and Mohammed Isa were also on target helping their team come from a goal down to score a resounding victory.
Al Museef went ahead early in the match when Fadi Ali deflected shot beat Majestic Cars goalkeeper Sayed Mohammed Imran.
But Majestic Cars fought back bravely and equalised through Kadhem eight minutes before half-time. Three minutes later, Sadoon put Majestic Cars in front converting teammate Mohammed Abdulkareem’s smart pass.
Majestic Cars went up 4-1 in space of one minute, thanks to goals from Ali (44) and Isa (45).
Majestic Cars completed the rout in the second-half through Kadhem, who converted a pass from Abdulkareem for his second goal.
In another match in Group Three, Forever and Al Nawayef drew 1-1.
Forever took a deserved lead in the 21st minute through Kuwaiti professional Nayef Zwayed, who converted a penalty, but Hussain “Pele” Ali equalised in the 60th minute, through another penalty.
Mohammed Ashoor of Al Nawayef won the best player award.
The first-half did not live up to expectations though Forever were marginally the better team. Al Nawayef adopted a defensive approach and tried to surprise their opponents with counter-attacks.
Zwayed put Forever ahead by sending the goalkeeper the wrong way from the penalty spot.
Al Nawayef switched to an attacking mode in the second-half and their efforts paid off and won them a valuable point when Ali struck from the penalty spot.
Meanwhile, the first round of the group stage concludes today with teams from Group Four contesting against each other.
Gunners United face Al Zilzal in the first match of the day, followed by Fiesta taking on Al Suqoor.
But all eyes will on Gunners who have won the title three times.
The Organising Committee yesterday decorated the Khalifa Sports City Football Stadium with a photo of His Majesty as a token of appreciation for his unwavering support to youth and sports in the Kingdom.
