Stoneham police have identified the owner of the vehicle that struck four children and drove off Sunday night, but have not yet made an arrest.

A spokesperson for the Stoneham Police Department told the Herald Wednesday that police had identified the vehicle’s owner as a Burlington woman, but a summons for her arrest has not been issued.

The spokesperson added that the woman has declined to speak with police.

Stoneham Police received multiple 911 calls at 6:38 p.m. Sunday about a dark-colored Subaru Legacy slamming into four kids standing with their bikes at the bottom of a driveway at Elm Street and MacArthur Road, then driving off.

All four of the kids were taken to Winchester Hospital — the two girls by ambulance — and later released, their parents said.

None of them was seriously injured, but three of the four, who spoke to the Herald, said the crash left them shaken and wondering how someone could leave the scene of an accident that could have been fatal.

“I think it’s really messed up that someone would hit four kids and beep their horn and take off,” said Caden Parks-Miller, 13, who had cuts on his arms and legs. “I don’t know why they would leave. I think they should be arrested.”

Stoneham Police said the incident is still under investigation and are urging anyone with information to call the department at 781-438-1215.
