It comes eight days after she told fans she was pulling out of the shows after her dad almost died from a ruptured colon.

Britney posted today: "Can you believe that this album was released 20 years ago today?! I can’t.

"It’s been the journey of a lifetime, but I’m grateful for every moment.

"Getting to know you all over the years has been such an incredible experience.

"Thank you for all your support #BabyOneMoreTime20."

She hadn't posted online since telling fans she had to cancel her second Las Vegas residency and take a step back from her work commitments.

The 37-year-old singer wants to focus all of her energy on caring for her family.

In a statement, the star's PR explained that Britney's  beloved father, Jamie Spears, was rushed to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas two months ago after his  colon spontaneously ruptured.

Jamie was immediately taken into surgery, spending the next 28 days in hospital - which the family credit with saving his life.

Asking for fans to keep her family in their prayers, the star wrote: "I don’t even know where to start with this, because this is so tough for me to say.

"I will not be performing my new show Domination. I’ve been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart.

"However, it’s important to always put your family first… And that’s the decision I had to make. A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalised and almost died.

"We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him. I had to make the difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time.

"I hope you all can understand. More information on ticket refunds is available on britneyspears.com.

"I appreciate your prayers and support for my family during this time. Thank you, and love you all… always."

Britney's Domination show was set to be the mother-of-two's second Las Vegas residency, at Park Theatre in the Park MGM hotel and Casino.

It was due to kick off on the 13th February, with the star scheduled to perform 32 shows between then and the 17th August.

Britney's first Vegas residency, Piece Of Me, launched in The Axis auditorium in the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in December 2013, with the singer performing 248 shows over the the four-year stint.

The show won critical acclaim and was a huge success, grossing over £100million after selling almost a million tickets.
