How to increase Exosuit inventory space in No Man's Sky

Everything that space travelers need to know to increase the Exosuit inventory space in No Man's Sky Beyond.

Inventory management is a large part of the experience in No Man’s Sky. While the Beyond update has upped the stack rates of most items, knowing how to increase your Exosuit’s inventory space is going to be key to gaining access to more space along the way. In this guide, we’ll break down the best ways to get your hands on more inventory space, which will allow you to hold more useful items throughout your travels.

How to increase Exosuit inventory space in No Man’s Sky

While you used to only be able to increase your Exosuit’s inventory space by finding Drop Pods, the latest updates for No Man’s Sky have made things much easier. Players can now find Exosuit Upgrade Modules available throughout every space station that they visit, as well as available for purchase on The Anomaly. You will, of course, need to bring along 10,000 Units for the first Exosuit Upgrade, with the price going up by 10,000 Units each time you buy one. However, that’s a small price to pay for more inventory space, especially if you follow our guide on how to make money quickly in No Man’s Sky.

How to increase Exosuit inventory space in No Man's Sky
You'll need plenty of inventory space if you want to collect all the things in No Man's Sky.

While these methods for upgrading your Exosuit are pretty self-explanatory, I’ll provide a bit more information below, so that you understand exactly what you’re looking for.

Buying Exosuit Upgrades from a space station

The first method that I mentioned as a viable option for getting more inventory space is to purchase Exosuit Upgrades directly from any Space Station you visit. Each station will sell 1 Exosuit Upgrade which you can purchase as soon as you visit the station for the first time. Don’t forget that the upgrades go up by 10,000 Units each time you buy a new one, though, so be sure to bring along plenty of money for the transaction.

Where to buy Exosuit Upgrade Modules in No Man's Sky
Exosuit Upgrade Modules can be found in space stations and The Anomaly.

From the landing area, look at the back of the station and then head up the ramp to your left. This will lead you to a series of vendors and stations. One of these vendors will specialize in selling Technology Modules, they will also have a large station next to them that holds an Exosuit pack’s hologram. This is where you’ll purchase your Exosuit Upgrades from.

Buying Exosuit Upgrades from The Anomaly

Aside from space stations, players can purchase Exosuit Upgrades from one other distinct location—The Anomaly. This is basically the major hub area of the game, the same area that you’ll find the newly minted Nexus multiplayer area. You’ll also be able to find a new vendor named Iteration: Selene. This particular vendor can be found along the left-hand side of the Nexus.

You’ll find the same hologram as in the space stations, so just keep an eye out for it and then interact with the hologram to purchase the Exosuit Upgrade. Just like the ones in the space stations, the Exosuit Upgrades on The Anomaly will be available for 10,000 Units at the start, though this price will increase by 10,000 Units each time you buy one.

Finding Exosuit Upgrades in Drop Pods

Finally, we find ourselves back where we started. Just like the original release of the game, players can still find and acquire Exosuit Upgrades from Drop Pods that they come across in the wild. These items can be a bit tricky to locate, though, with a bit of RNG involved in locating them across the system.

To find Drop Pods, head down to a planet and build a Signal Booster. This item will allow you to search for nearby structures, which can point out the locations of nearby Drop Pods. From here, head to the destination and repair it to acquire the Exosuit Upgrade Module inside.

Now that you know how to increase your Exosuit inventory space, you’ll be able to acquire more items at any given time. You can also check out our guide on how to upgrade your starship, or even head back over to our No Man’s Sky walkthrough and guide for more help.

Inventory management is by far the worst thing about this game. The stack sizes are too small, the grid is poorly organized, and having upgrades occupy inventory slots is a baffling decision.

It is pretty bad, especially the early game. I think they should have just allowed unlimited stacks if it is in your ship. Maybe limit how much stacks the suit can carry, and when you transfer from the ship to suit just ask the player how much to transfer (default to a "full" exosuit stack).

This would solve a lot of problems, the slots aren't really the problem, just the stack sizes being terrible.

The upgrades thing is basically inspired directly by Elite where you had to trade cargo space for mods and stuff.
