Prep roundup: New Ulm girls win big over Faribault, BLHS, MVL, Madelia, Wabasso all compete in volleyball tournaments

New Ulm 7, Faribault 0

NEW ULM — The New Ulm girls’ soccer team continued its hot streak, defeating Faribault 7-0 on Saturday in a nonconference game.

The Eagles have won three straight games, scoring five goals on Tuesday, eight on Thursday and seven more on Saturday.

Paige Kalis led the offensive attack on Saturday with three goals. Bekah Friendshuh, Bryn Nesvold, Livia Reinarts and Madison Roufs also added a goal each. Roufs also had three assists.

Kendra Nesvold finished with four saves in the match.

New Ulm (3-1-1) is at Mankato Loyola on Tuesday.

Madelia goes 0-3 at Sleepy Eye

SLEEPY EYE — Madelia went 0-3 at the Sleepy Eye tournament on Saturday.

Sleepy Eye defeated Madelia 25-21, 25-11 in the first match. Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart then defeated Madelia 25-16, 25-13 in the second match, and Fairmont topped Madelia 25-17, 25-22 in the third match.

Brooke Lensing led Madelia with 13 kills on the day and Lillian Maul had 25 digs and seven kills. Emily Stevenson had 24 set assists and Dora Facundo had 20 digs.

BLHS takes third at SE tourney

SLEEPY EYE — Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart finished third at the Sleepy Eye volleyball tourney on Saturday.

BLHS defeated Fairmont 25-19, 25-16, defeated Madelia 25-16, 25-13, split with Sleepy Eye 19-25, 25-23, lost to Mountain Lake Area 25-17, 25-11 and defeated Sleepy Eye 25-21, 25-21 for third place.

Allison Dornseif had 77 set assists and Sarah Kottke had 32 kills.Tia Weispfenning and Emily Hable each had 23 kills.

Wabasso takes 4th at Montevideo

MONTEVIDEO — The Wabasso volleyball team went 2-2 on Saturday in Montevideo.

Cora Eichten finished the day with 20 kills and 26 digs and Bella Brand had 34 digs. Avery Carlson and Kelsey Frank each had 20 set assists. Halle Hunerkoch finished with 25 digs.

MVL competes at WEM

WATERVILLE — Minnesota Valley Lutheran went 2-3-1 at the Waterville-Elysian-Morristown volleyball tournament on Saturday,

Mara Weisensel had 57 kills and nine blocks and Emma Nelson had 30 digs, 24 kills and six ace serves. Maddie Pearson had 28 digs and 95 set assists
