ORION TWP. >> Hundreds of volunteers gathered Friday morning in Lake Orion to cleanup after the massive windstorm of Saturday, April 12. The massive hail and wind storm Saturday not only left thousands of people in the area powerless, but caused major damages to trees, homes and properties. Orion Township organized the cleanup on Friday, which many people had off from work because of the upcoming Easter holiday.

“Several churches in the area offered to help the community cleanup, and many local residents and businesses expressed an interest, too,” Orion Township Supervisor Chris Barnett said.

Volunteers brought supplies such as chainsaws, wood chippers, trailers and rakes to help local residents and businesses clear fallen trees and debris from their properties

The township posted updates on its website, www.oriontownship.org and Barnett’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/ChrisBarnettOrion which received hundreds of responses.
