Storms possible during Music City Grand Prix IndyCar race in Nashville
Storms may impact Sunday's Big Machine Music City Grand Prix at the Nashville street course.
The National Weather Service forecast for Nashville is calling for a 47% chance of precipitation for 2 p.m. Sunday. That increases to a 53% chance for rain at 3 p.m., according to the NWS forecast as of Saturday night. The forecast also calls for temperatures at 92 degrees at the time of the green flag, which is set for 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
More importantly there is a chance of thunder, according to the NWS, all throughout the afternoon. Any lightning within an 8-mile radius of the street course will halt on-track action for at least 30 minutes.
