Bahrain announces plans for USD815m airport expansion


(MENAFN) Bahrain's prime minister announced the detail of the planned expansion of Bahrain International Airport, which worth ballpark USD815 million.

The plans comprise seven key projects, including a new passenger terminal, new arrival and departure lounges and airport 'aprons', where planes are parked, unloaded and refueled.

The planned expansion will be completed by the first quarter of 2019, Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa said, with work commencing "imminently".

The scheme is one of a total USD2.2 billion development projects in Bahrain that are being funded by the government and the USD10 billion Gulf Development Fund pledged by neighboring states.
