Khaled Abdulkarim appointed as Bahrain Country Manager


(MENAFNEditorial) MasterCard has appointed Khaled Abdulkarim as the Country Manager for Bahrain – with a focus on developing new relationships and enhancing MasterCard's existing engagement with stakeholders in the country.

MasterCard recognizes the importance of the Middle East and Africa (MEA) as its fastest-growing region. In recent years, MasterCard has been investing in expert resources across the region, and in the Middle East in particular, in order to drive innovation and expand financial inclusion by providing pioneering technology to governments, merchants, and consumers.

"In order for us to be closely aligned with the diverse needs of our markets, it is imperative that we build a robust and empowered team on-ground across the Middle East, with continued support from our regional hub in Dubai," explained Girish Nanda, Area Head, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Yemen, MasterCard. "We are committed to driving the payments industry in the market along with our key partners and customers."

Previously Head of Retail Credit and Card Centre at Ithmaar Bank, Mr. Abdulkarim joins MasterCard with 13 years of experience and an extensive track record in the banking industry in Bahrain. Prior to his time at Ithmaar Bank, he was a Product Manager at Khaleeji Commercial Bank and earlier held positions at Bahrain Islamic Bank and CrediMax.

"Mr. Abdulkarim brings with him a wealth of experience, and is ideally placed to head our business in Bahrain. He has a deep understanding of the payments space and unique insight into the local banking industry region, having spent over a decade of his career in this space. We are delighted to have him on board," Nanda concluded.
