JASON: WELCOME BACK TO SUNRISE. GETTING A FINAL CHECK OF TODAY’S TOP STORIES, STARTING WITH BREAKING NEWS IN ORLANDO. MEREDITH: POLICE ARE LOOKING FOR A GUNMAN IN AN OVERNIGHT SHOOTING. IT WAS REPORTED AROUND 12:30 THIS MORNING ON SIGNAL HILL ROAD NEAR LIGHTHOUSE ROAD, LESS THAN A MILE FROM ROSEMONT ELEMENTARY. OFFICERS SAY ONE PERSON WAS HURT. HE WAS RUSHED TO THE HOSPITAL. WE DO NOT KNOW HAYES CONDITION. JASON: ORLANDO LEADERS ARE MEETING TODAY TO DISCUSS NEW WAYS TO KEEP PEOPLE SAFE WHEN THEY GO DOWNTOWN. AMONG THE CHANGES THEY ARE CONSIDERING -- REQUIRING OVERNIGHT PARKING LOTS TO HAVE ENOUGH LIGHTING AND SECURITY GUARDS. AUTHORITIES HAVE ALREADY STARTED SETTING UP CONTROLLED ENTRY POINTS DOWNTOWN AS OF THIS WEEKEND AND THE PREVIOUS ONE. MEREDITH: POLICE ARE STEPPING UP PATROLS IN WASHINGTON, D.C. AFTER A MAN DROVE HIS CAR INTO A BARRICADE OUTSIDE THE U.S. CAPITOL. IT HAPPENED EARLY YESTERDAY MORNING. AUTHORITIES SAY THE DRIVER FIRED A GUN INTO THE AIR, THEN SHOT HIMSELF. HE DIED AT THE SCENE. NO OTHER INJURIES WERE REPORTED. JASON: THE FBI AND HOMELAND SECURITY ARE ASKING THEIR AGENTS TO BE ON HIGH ALERT AFTER REPORTING AN INCREASE IN THREATS. IT COMES AFTER THE SEARCH OF PRESIDENT TRUMP’S MAR-A-LAGO ESTATE. ACCORDING TO A MESSAGE BY BOTH AGENCIES, THE THREATS ARE COMING FROM ONLINE ACROSS MULTIPLE PLATFORMS. MEREDITH: ANOTHER JUMP IN MONKEYPOX CASES IN FLORIDA. THERE HAVE NOW BEEN NEARLY 1200 CASES REPORTED ACROSS THE STATE. MORE THAN 100 OF THOSE INFECTIONS ARE IN CENTRAL FLORIDA. MOST ARE IN ORANGE COUNTY, WHICH HAS REPORTED 68 INFECTIONS. JASON: A NEW SECTION OF THE WALK IVA PARKWAY IS OPEN THIS MORNING, WRITING FROM JUST WEST OF ORANGE TO LONGWOOD-MARKHAM ROAD. Two Florida teenagers were killed in Hendry County early Saturday morning after a high-speed chase, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

An FHP release said that the two teens, a 19-year-old man from Clewiston and a 17-year-old girl from Hialeah, were fleeing from Hendry County deputies at a high speed on County Road 835 at 2:04 a.m.

Troopers said the teens tried to make a sharp right-hand curve but failed, launching their car into a large canal along the road.

The car hit the south embarkment of the canal before falling into the water.

Deputies said the teens died at the scene of the crash.

As of Saturday, troopers were still investigating the crash.
