As reported by WIRED today, a group of six computer scientists this year discovered a security vulnerability with the Apple Vision Pro that

Hackers rejoice A team of boffins has found that hacking the Apple Vision Pro is more straightforward than many believed in the Tame Apple Press. The team of six discovered that exposed eye-tracking data can be exploited to decipher what users enter on the device's virtual keyboard.

The researchers disclosed the vulnerability to Apple back in April, and Apple fixed it in visionOS 1.3, which came out in July. In the release notes, Apple says that the flaw enabled inputs to the virtual keyboard to be inferred from Persona.

The Apple Vision Pro AR head unit contains two 100 Hz micro-OLED displays. Inside these displays are the following electronic components: Texas Instruments’ current/power monitor, 1.2 V comparator, single 2-input positive AND gate, triple buffer driver and DC-DC step-down converter.

Apple Vision Pro exposed what users typed when they relied on the headset’s eye-tracking feature while using avatars.

Apple is reportedly switching to a less expensive OLED technology to try and get the manufacturing costs down on a future Apple Vision Pro headset.
