During a Thursday news conference at the Louisiana Capitol, Landry said the main goal of the convention would be to free up dedicated funds. This, he says, would allow legislators and other state officials to have flexibility during budget crunches.

Gov. Landry has said that he wants the convention in order to streamline the constitution which he says is too bloated.
