CVS Health is laying off nearly 3,000 "primarily corporate roles" in a cost-cutting move, the company confirmed to USA TODAY Tuesday.

CVS Health is planning to cut about 2,900 jobs in an effort to slash costs, the US health care company said Tuesday.

CVS Health announced Tuesday the pharmacy chain will lay off nearly 3,000 workers as part of cost-saving efforts, but the job cuts primarily will be in "corporate" positions, the company said.
