ATLANTA (AP) — Students at Apalachee High School outside Atlanta will return to campus for half-days beginning next week, Barrow County school officials announced, after a Sept. 4 shooting that killed four people and injured nine others.

Students as young as five demanded stricter gun laws Thursday at the Georgia Capitol, weeks after a deadly school shooting northeast of Atlanta

Atlanta high school students are planning a walkout at the Georgia Capitol Building to push for stronger gun control laws following the deadly shooting at Apalachee High School.

Across the state, students held a walkout to the Georgia State Capitol to protest gun laws after the shooting at Apalachee High School. In Atlanta, school administrators accompanied the students. Students had signed permission slips from their parents that allowed them to join the protest.

Some metro Atlanta students walked out of their schools Thursday morning and straight to the state capitol. It’s all in a push for stricter gun laws following the Apalachee High School shooting. About 30 students and 14 chaperones from the Morgan Oliver School made their voices heard to lawmakers with their parents’ permission.
