Russia and Ukraine on Monday swapped a first group of captured soldiers -- part of an agreement reached during peace talks that appeared to be in doubt over the weekend.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said that the delegations in Istanbul agreed on another prisoner swap of 1,000 from each side. Kyiv also seeks the return of political prisoners and journalists, so an additional swap of 200 people from each side may be an option, he said in Vilnius.
Russia and Ukraine have agreed to a prisoner exchange and the return of war dead in Istanbul, but peace negotiations have stalled.
