As a classically trained pianist, I used to rely on sheet music when playing a piece - that’s why I’d have a hard time playing things by ear. Carnival of rust has been one of my favorite songs and I’ve attempted to play it, but as I couldn’t find a piano arrangement and being a bit lazy (abs probably a bit intimidated as well), I’d play 1-2 chords and then give it up.
