Our Chairman @timothyshriver was on the ground with Special Olympics China and other partners last week to accept an award from Rehabilitation International in recognition our work promoting inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities around the world. Thank you, Rehabilitation International, for the honor, and to the China Disabled Persons’ Federation for its continued support of our work!
During the visit, Dr. Shriver also met with Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu to discuss strengthening Special Olympics’ programming across China. As part of our enhanced partnership (through the Global Leadership Coalition for Inclusion), the Chinese government will work with Special Olympics to expand unified sports and education programs in 2,000 schools and community centers, reaching over 500,000 young people.
This commitment marks a significant step forward in the global movement to advance inclusion and the rights of people with intellectual disabilities.
