The National Association of Immigration Judges represents judges employed by the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), a component of the Department of Justice (DOJ). Immigration Judges are executive branch employees, and are therefore subject to the supervision of the President of the United States or his designates.

Ashley Tabaddor want to run immigration policy without supervision.This is not new, the Attorney General has long lost control of the immigration court bureaucracy, undoubtedly because deciding immigration cases was turned over to lawyers from immigration officers in the early 1970s.
