Seattle, nicknamed the Emerald City, offers visitors plenty of attractions. The most famous of these is the Space Needle, from the top of which the vista stretches over the city and the bay all the way to the snowy peak of Mount Rainier. There is plenty else to be seen, though. Just next to the Space Needle is the Museum of Pop Culture. Here music is prominent as befits a city whose musical history includes Jimi Hendrix and the Grunge movement. Other locations that have featured in popular culture are Pike Place Market and the Waterfront area, which is home to the Great Wheel. Seattle prizes its liberal identity, which is featured best in the Fremont district. Here can be found the 18-foot tall Fremont Troll and a statue of Lenin that arrived following the fall of communism in Europe, alongside characterful shops and restaurants.
