Ok, we're back, and ready to DO this!!! Seriously OLD vine cabernet sauvignon, from a Last Bottle all-time favorite Chilean winemaker, in what just might be the hands down BEST UNDER $20 CABERNET SAUVIGNON we’ve had...like, EVER! 94 POINTS! Let’s GO!

JAYA is a new cabernet sauvignon project from our vote for one of Chile’s top winemakers, Gabriel Edwards. If you’ve scored any of the unmatchable, best “bang for the buck” wines from CLOS DE LUZ that we’ve been shouting from the mountaintops for years (ahem...like TODAY) – chances are you’re already loading up your cart. He makes some of our top price-defying, thoughtful, all-in-all stupefying values ANYWHERE and this 94 POINT gem is without question the Prince William, heir to the throne! (Sorry, Harry.) A single vineyard, where 75+-year-old cabernet sauvignon thrives in the high elevation, gravelly sands that have run down from the towering Andes mountains for millennia – Las Cenizas flat out DELIVERS!

Inky and ooey-gooey with succulent blackberries, juicy raspberries, and brightly snappy black currants, then some savory, smokey plum notes, and ending in the heady aromas of strong espressos and toasted pastries that you might find at a cafe outside Florence (literally where I’m writing this from, I smuggled a bottle in my luggage) – this old-vine, structured, velvety, and seriously DEEP cabernet gives you all the requisite hedonism of high-class Napa, with a flourish of wild herbs and cool spearmint from Sonoma’s Alexander Valley. It’s epically pleasing, drink-me-all-the-damn-day goodness – and it’s UNDER $20!!! My goodness, people, what are you waiting for?! You saw that 94 point score, right? Gabriel hit another dinger with this new project and we got every last bottle we could. Burgers on the grill? Drink this. Summer chili cook-off? Drink this. Unplanned late-night revelry? Yep, that too. Just don’t MISS OUT!

94 points

“Made with fruit from a single parcel of Cabernet Sauvignon in a vineyard planted in 1945 in the Valle del Rapel, this expression is a project of Clos de Luz. Powerful dark-berry notes are laced with succulent wild herbs, espresso bean, and charcuterie. Full-bodied with crunchy red berry and blackberry, an inviting minty freshness, and velvety tannins.”

About The Producer

Gabriel Edwards is the man behind Clos de Luz, and he is our very favorite Chilean  winemakers. He crafts wine from fruit grown on his family-owned 33 hectare estate in the Almahue Valley within Chile's renowned Rapel Valley, originally acquired by Gabrial’s great-grandfather back in 1892.The Almahue Valley, boasting a mere 360 hectares of vineyards, harbors some of Chile's oldest vines and is hailed as the birthplace of Chilean Carménère. Clos de Luz proudly maintains this legacy– in fact, the majority of the estate’s vines are Carménère, planted by Gabriel’s grandmother in 1945.
