Police: 2 injured in Melville armed home robbery

According to police, a man entered a New York Avenue residence at approximately 1:20 a.m. and demanded cash from a man and woman.

Police say two people were injured during an armed burglary that occurred at a Melville residence early this morning.
According to police, a man entered a New York Avenue residence at approximately 1:20 a.m. and demanded cash from a man and woman.
The suspect displayed a handgun and struck both of the occupants with the weapon.
During the burglary, the male resident struggled with the suspect and the weapon discharged, however, no one was struck. The suspect fled in an unknown direction.
The victims were transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives believe the location was targeted.
The suspect was described as Black with a heavyset build. He was wearing black clothing and a mask.
