Officials from Conemaugh Health System confirmed multiple employees at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center have tested positive for COVID-19. They did not confirm how many.

Kyle Adams, the Marketing Communications Coordinator for Conemaugh, told 6 News they are working closely with the Pennsylvania Department of Health, while also following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to ensure the safety of staff and patients.

Adams told us the hospital has identified those who have been in contact with the infected staff, and they are following appropriate protocols.

Health officials also stated that effective Monday, July 20th, Conemaugh will be re-implementing its zero visitor policy in response to the recent rise in cases.

“Like many other communities nationwide, our region is experiencing a rise in positive cases of COVID-19,” said William Caldwell, CEO of Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.

“While we have not yet seen a corresponding rise of hospitalizations, we believe this proactive measure is necessary to do our part in keeping our patients, employees and providers as safe as possible.”
