Crafting A Great November & December

Pleasantville Farmers Market is open Saturday, 8:30am - 1:00pm

As we head into the gift-giving season the Pleasantville Farmers Market showcases some really unique craft items. North Winds Lavender Farm (visiting 11/14 & 12/12) has turned their lavender harvest into many giftable items. The River Garden offers stunning dried floral bouquets and the first two weeks in December we'll finally get to see their gorgeous wreaths and centerpieces offered in the Market (11/14, 11/21, 12/5, 12/12). Alpacatrax brings skeins of wool from their own alpaca herd and finished wool items, including thick wool socks (11/14, 11/21 & 12/12). And Living Edge Designs is in each Saturday through 12/19 with unique cutting boards, flight board, bread peals and more. So in addition to being able to shop the fall harvest in the upcoming weeks you can gather some nicely crafted gifts too. ALSO: Harper Keehn Knife & Tool Sharpening will also be in this Saturday (11/14) and next Saturday (11/21) to sharpen your knives while you shop.

Please note our upcoming schedule:

  • November 21: final fall market day
  • November 28: Market closed
  • December 5: first winter market day

Phelps Health Tip:
Lead Sponsor Phelps Hospital Northwell Health shares the following: "During the colder weeks to come consider eating more carbohydrates from root vegetables – they help the body to sustain a little more weight, which is needed to insulate against the cold weather. Warming vegetables like potatoes, cabbages, carrots, onions, rutabagas, and winter squash all store well in cool, dark places, and can provide energy and comfort throughout the winter season".

PFM-O Winter News

Have you tried Pleasantville Farmers Market Online (PFM-O) yet? You can register and place preorders until 7:00pm Thursday (tonight).

With an eye on the upcoming outdoor winter season, our vendors have been working hard to get set up in PFM-O with ALL their items. We want the online store to prove as convenient as possible for shoppers so it can be successful for our producers.

Pickup Fee Reduced
Starting this week (tonight) PFM-O has reduced the pickup fee from $5.00 to $2.00. A single $2.00 pickup fee is placed on your order (no matter how many producers you shop from) to cover credit card fees and customer service for the platform. The pickup fee will remain reduced all winter (through March).

No Minimums
No vendor in PFM-O sets minimums for your orders. Another way our producers have stepped up - in this case to see that shoppers can scale their purchasing - ensuring a fit that works for each household.

Inviting Friends, Harvest Heroes & Winter Warriors!
The Pleasantville Farmers Market is run by the non-profit community organization Foodchester, Inc. To sustain access to locally produced food and to support our many producers, we are committed to keeping the Market open despite the many challenges COVID-19 has presented. But it hasn’t been easy as costs increase, revenues decrease, and our volunteer staff is stretched thin. We deeply appreciate your support as shoppers and have set up additional opportunities in Foodchester's PFM-O store for those who feel they can additionally contribute to help the Market. Please have a look at the various donation levels we've set up and some of the fun ways we've created to thank you for your generosity. (Please note that because Foodchester is a 501(c)(4) non-profit, individual donations are not tax deductible.)

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:

Masks Are Mandatory & Other Guidelines
Help the Market remain a safe and efficient place to gather food. Masks are required to be worn while at the Market. Please send only one member of the family to shop. If arriving as a couple, bring enough reusable bags so you can splitting up shopping tasks. Do not use the Market at this time as a family outing as we must limit the number of people in the marketplace, and shopping is meant to be brief and purposeful. For more information about COVID-19 protocols for shoppers please click here. Your adherence to these shopping guidelines assists us in keeping the Market open to support residents and vendors alike.

Absolutely avoid the Market if you are sick. Especially so if you exhibit any symptoms of the COVID-19 virus (temperature of 100° or above, a cough, a sore throat, shortness of breath). The New York State Department of Health has set up a hotline at (888) 364-3065 where Department of Health experts are available to answer questions regarding COVID-19.
