"I love to see women look good and feel better about themselves," said Sonia Johnson, CEO of "Strands from the Heart".

Johnson began weaving wigs over 20 years ago.

In 1997, her best friend's mother's close friend was diagnosed with cancer and started to lose her hair.

"I just made her a wig and told her don't worry about giving me anything," said Johnson.

From then on, she turned the favor into a lifestyle.

Johnson founded "Strands from the Heart" and hand-made hairpieces for women and girls battling cancer.

"I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Exactly breast cancer month," said cancer survivor and founder of United Cancer Awareness, a non-profit, Lorraine Caldwell.

Over the years, Johnson has grown to spot signs in hair loss, but not even she could see this coming.

In fact, no one could.

"It was hard for me to share my story with anybody. I didn't tell my mom, my dad, my husband. No one. It was something I carried alone," said Caldwell.

Caldwell was diagnosed with breast cancer six years ago.

"She found out by accident (chuckle)," said Caldwell. "She didn't find out until she came home and she said, 'Wow. I've been doing hair for cancer survivors, and here my best friend has cancer."

Johnson didn't hesitate to help out her best friend.

"I helped her with her wigs. Her eyelashes," said Johnson.

And share her triumph to reach others battling to defeat the disease.

"So I was using the wigs and showing what type of work she can do and we've been working together as a team," said Caldwell.

"We said we're going to pull this thing together and we're going to get this mission going and we're all going to fight together," said Johnson.
