MANAMA, Bahrain, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Four police officers in Bahrain suffered minor injuries Friday in a bomb attack the official Bahrain News Agency described as an act of terrorism.
The report Friday said the officers were injured in a "terror blast" in Sehla, a village in the outskirts of Manama.
BNA reported the explosion was triggered by a remote control device while authorities were working to clear blocked roads in the village. It said security forces launched a manhunt for the suspects.
Bahrain was the subject of a travel warning issued Friday by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, cautioning the public about marches planned for Saturday from six villages to central Manama.
"Demonstrations and protests are a regular occurrence in Bahrain," the warning said. "Some can be violent."
Bahrain's report made no mention of protests.
Bahrain was criticized for a crackdown on demonstrations in 2011. It said it is committed to a series of reforms outlined by an inquiry probing the government's response to the protests.
Maryam al-Khawaja, acting president of the Bahrain Center for Human Rights, told CNN last weekend protests are ongoing against the Sunni-led monarchy in the country.
