CONCORD, NH — Several tips led to the arrest of a reputed gang member Saturday at a gas station in Lee. Orlando Carrero, 37, of Rochester, was last week's Fugitive of the Week, and was wanted on an outstanding warrant out of Strafford County on a bail violation after failing to comply with conditions of a drug court program. Carrero, according to Deputy Marshal Jeffrey White, was in the drug court program in lieu of a criminal prison sentence for narcotics.

White said the task force received "numerous tips" that stated Carrero was "frequently going back and forth to Manchester, in an effort to avoid police contact." Task force members spent a good part of Saturday performing "a lengthy period of surveillance" when a vehicle he was a passenger in stopped at a gas station.

"Members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, with the assistance of the Lee Police Department, took the opportunity to move in and arrest Carrero at gun point," White said. "Carrero was arrested without any significant incident."

The driver of the vehicle was identified, detained, and turned over to the Lee Police Department, and released later.

Carrero was transported to the Strafford County Jail where he was held. He will be arraigned at a future date in Strafford County Superior Court. Carrero is facing the imposition of his prison sentence due to non-compliance with the drug court program, White said.
