Mum praises ‘wonder cream’ for healing baby’s bleeding eczema in just a few days

A MUM has praised a moisturiser as a "wonder cream" after claiming it healed her baby's bleeding eczema in just a few days.

Sinead Gorman, 33, from Isleworth, West London, was desperately searching for a solution that would ease daughter Lola’s discomfort.

The tot was just eight weeks old when her skin first broke out in red-raw patches on her stomach, back and legs.

It was so irritated that Lola would scratch it until it bled and wept over her clothes and bedsheets.

Sinead took her baby to see a doctor, who diagnosed her with eczema and prescribed steroid creams.

But the mum said nothing seemed to soothe the huge patches of dry, sore skin.

'Nothing worked'

Sinead, who worked in an opticians before having Lola with husband Andrew, 29, said: “The eczema flared up after her eight-week injections.

"Doctors were sure it wasn’t a reaction to the jabs or anything like that – it was just coincidence - but Lola’s skin never calmed back down.

“We were told she had eczema and we were given steroid creams but they didn’t work and I wasn’t keen on using them long term as they are meant to thin the skin.

As a mother, it was so upsetting seeing Lola in such a state. We were desperate to find something that worked.

"The eczema was everywhere apart from her nappy area so I thought, at one point, it might be down to the washing powder we were using, so I tried changing that too.

"I was so stressed and at my wit’s end as nothing seemed to work.

Then the mother-of-one received a message from her sister, Aisling, about a body cream she had read about online called Baby Kingdom Collection which claimed it eased eczema.

Sinead bought the Body Cream and the 2-1 Hair and Body Wash and, to her amazement, after the first few days of use, Lola’s eczema started to clear up.

She said: “I was really skeptical about buying something else.

"We had tried so much in the past and despite the positive claims, nothing made any improvement.

"I was pretty sure it would be another product that I bought only for it to end up just sitting there on a shelf, not being used.

“Within a few days the redness started to go and Lola’s skin wasn’t so angry anymore and was no longer flaky. It really is a wonder cream.

WHAT IS ECZEMA?

Eczema is a condition that causes the skin to become itchy, red, dry and cracked.

Atopic eczema (the most common form of the condition) is more common in children, often developing before their first birthday.

However, it may also develop for the first time in adults.

It's usually a long-term condition, although it can improve significantly, or even clear completely, in some children as they get older.

The exact cause of eczema is not known.

Symptoms:
Some people only have small patches of dry skin, but others may experience widespread red, inflamed skin all over the body.

It can affect any part of the body but it most often affects the hands, insides of the elbows, backs of the knees and the face and scalp in children.

There are many different treatments to help control eczema, including:

  • self-care techniques, such as reducing scratching and avoiding triggers (babies and small children may need to wear mittens to avoid scratching)
  • moisturising on a daily basis
  • topical corticosteroids to reduce swelling, redness and itching during flare-ups

“There is not a great deal of information about eczema from doctors so sometimes you just have to try and keep going yourself until you find a solution but Baby Kingdom 100 per cent worked for me.

"It’s a huge relief.”

Dr Firas Al-Niaimi, group medical director at sk:n, said about the brand, saying: “Some of the ingredients are emollients and help with hydrating the skin and optimising the skin barrier, which is essential in eczema.

“Some others such as aloe vera and Panthenol have mild anti-inflammatory effects, which, together with the hydrating effects can explain the improvement in eczema.”
