Smith was “ecstatic” to hear the news and told the OCC: “Thank you so much to every single person who has purchased my album.”
Smith follows Ed Sheeran as the second artist to pass 1 million album sales in 2014. Sheeran’s X reached the milestone in November. Taylor Swift‘s 1989 also broke 1 million U.K. sales and all three will perform at the Brit Awards in February.
The Frozen soundtrack is the only other album that has broken the million sales figure in the U.K. this year.
