Data released on coronavirus cases at long-term care facilities in Pennsylvania
Caring Heights Community Care & Rehab Center is responding to the latest data released by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, showing an alarming number of COVID-19 infections and deaths.
Numbers were released Tuesday, showing 28 deaths in the facility, however, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Nancy Istenes says in a released statement no coronavirus cases exist inside their facility.
“At this time, we have no residents positive for COVID-19. The facility acts in the best interest of its residents to promote their health, safety and welfare. We have and continue to work closely with the Department of Health and follow all necessary guidelines and regulations. Due to HIPAA regulations, we cannot comment on any personal health information," says Dr. Istenes.

“Long-term care facility residents are among the most vulnerable Pennsylvanians, and we want their families to have the latest information on what is going on in the facilities in which their loved ones reside,” Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine said. “COVID-19 is a particularly challenging situation for these settings as they care for residents with serious medical conditions. We will continue to work to ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents through education, resources and testing.”
The data provides the number of cases, number of employee cases and number of deaths that have occurred at each facility.
NOTE: For facilities with less than five in any of these data points, the information is redacted.
