At least 3 stores hit by "Quick Change Scam" in Pulaski County

There is a scam known as the "Quick Change Scam" and police say it hit at least three stores in Pulaski County recently.

Here is how it works - someone buys a small item, such as a lottery ticket, with a large bill, like a $100 bill. Then that person distracts the clerk with more cash, confusing them and then leaving the store with a lot more money.

Several stores in Pulaski County each lost several hundred dollars to this scam.

Burnside Police are looking for three black men in a silver Infiniti SUV with Pennsylvania license plate KXS9556. The men may be part of a crime ring operating out of Indianapolis.

This scam was also reported in Tennessee, Indiana, Georgia, Missouri, Illinois, Alabama, and Ohio.

Police officers mentioned that scams like this often result in clerks making up the loss out of their paychecks, which is hard for people getting by on minimum wage.
