KINGCITY, Mo. Helen Smith, 85, King City, passed away Friday, April 13, 2018, at a King City nursing home.
She was born February 16, 1933, in rural DeKalb County, Missouri, the daughter of Artie and Anna Flora (Jenkins) Watts.

She was born February 16, 1933, in rural DeKalb County, Missouri, the daughter of Artie and Anna Flora (Jenkins) Watts.
On December 24, 1948, she married Virgil Smith in King City, at the Hammer Memorial Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on March 28, 2011.
Helen worked as the Assistant City Clerk, of King City, for nearly 30 years. She was a member of the King City American Legion Post #132 Auxiliary and the Ladies Aid at Star Chapel United Methodist Church. She was honored as a Gold Star Mother for having lost her eldest son in the Vietnam War. Helen loved to read and crochet and loved babies. She especially loved her grandkids. Listening to Johnny Cash music was a favorite of Helens.
She was also preceded in death by: her parents; son, William W. Smith; two brothers, Raymond and Glenn Watts; and a sister, Anna Mae Conkling.
Survivors include: her sons, Robert (Kathy) Smith, Williams, Oregon, Richard (Charlene) Smith, St. Joseph, and Vernon (Sherry) Smith, King City; daughter, Donna (Albert) Muff, King City; grandchildren, Teresa (Tim), Rebecca (Kevin), William (Kyann), Michael (Misty), Melissa, Beau, Danielle, Aaron, Austin (Nikki) and Elijah; great-grandchildren, Skye, Jordan, Daeton, Mitchell, Brooklyn, Emma, Megan, Brady, Remi, Carter and Kinsley; sister, Bonnie Sue (Wayne) Mitchell, Stoutsville, Missouri; sister-in-law, Ethel Smith, Savannah, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Gretchen Lord Anderson, Sun Prairie, Wisconsin.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, at Roberson Funeral Home, King City. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home, where friends may call after 11 a.m.
Memorials may be made to the King City American Legion Auxiliary, in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 153, King City, MO 64463.
