Long Valley Teen Dies After Cancer Battle

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Obituary provided by Leber Funeral Home:

Anna Catherine McFarland, 14, of Long Valley, NJ passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2019, surrounded by her family, after a brave 16-month battle with leukemia. Born April 1, 2005 in Dallas, Texas, Anna was a freshman at West Morris Central High School in Chester, NJ.

Anna adored art, writing and reading. She took great joy in music, especially singing, playing the violin and guitar. As a proud April Fool’s baby, Anna possessed a joyful spirit and laughed loudly and often! Her dimpled smile was contagious. She had a tremendous love for animals. Anna was a member of the Girl Scouts of America, Orchestra and Fiddle Club at school and a singer in her music studio’s “Figgy Puddings” Christmas Caroling group. Anna was a member of Valley View Chapel in Long Valley, NJ

Anna is survived by her loving parents, Becky and Mike McFarland and older brother, Hudson McFarland. She is also survived by her grandmother, Martha McFarland, Aunts Patricia McFarland, Cindy McFarland Brown and husband Curtis, Beverly Floyd and husband Tim, Susan Stringer and husband LaRay, and Uncle Steve McFarland. Anna leaves behind Cousins John Landry and wife Brittany, Jessica Landry, Lucas Brown, Shannon Hillenmeyer and husband Hunter, Jessica Williams and husband Bradley, along with all her cousins’ children, whom she dearly loved.

A Celebration of Anna’s Life will include an 11am memorial service on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Valley View Chapel, 115 East Mill Road, Long Valley, NJ. All are invited to wear bright and joyous colors! A gathering of family and friends will follow the service at Valley View Chapel. Interment will be held privately with the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Anna’s name to Sarah’s Fight for Hope Foundation at www.sarahsfightforhope.org. All services are entrusted to the William J.
