CORPUS CHRISTI — Seven people are injured following a Saturday explosion and fire at Magellan's Corpus Christi petroleum storage facility. According to reports, the explosion happened within a tank reportedly holding 1,300 barrels of petroleum, though it's unclear what sparked it.

Corpus Christi Fire Chief Robert Rocha told media that the fire was contained and four people among the injured are considered critical. One was transported to a hospital burn unit in San Antonio.

A reverse alert was sent out just before 11 a.m. warning residents of the possible explosion. In a tweet, the Corpus Christi Police Department sent out a tweet asking residents to shelter in place until further notice. That shelter in place has since been lifted.
