Janan Ganesh sheds crocodile tears for parents who “must wait the better part of two decades to be stimulated by their offspring” (Life & Arts, FT Weekend, February 2).

He must have never answered the tough philosophical questions of three-year-olds, enjoyed the visual comments of seven-year-olds at an art exhibition, or argued literary opinions with teenagers. As Donald Trump would say, “sad!”.
