Prometric is closing CPA Exam test centers throughout the United States and Canada for 30 days to protect test takers and staff during the coronavirus outbreak
The closure is taking effect immediately. Prometric anticipates reopening its test centers on April 16, although the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) cautioned in a news release that the reopening date is subject to alteration based on conditions that change daily.
CPA candidates who have an existing appointment with Prometric will receive instructions by email on how to reschedule for a future date once it is deemed safe to resume testing. No rescheduling fees will be applied.
NASBA has recommended that boards of accountancy extend all Notices to Schedule with expirations between April 1 and June 30 of this year, with a new expiration date of Sept. 30, 2020. NASBA will identify all candidates who have an open Notice to Schedule and credit expiring through June 30 and provide this information to boards of accountancy, with a recommendation to grant an extension of credit if candidates are affected by circumstances beyond their control.
Because many board offices have been shut down, the decisions to extend conditional credit will not be finalized until the boards resume normal operations, according to NASBA.
