JESSICA: IN COMMITMENT 2019, IT IS ELECTION DAY ACROSS OKLAHOMA. SEVERAL SCHOOL DISTRICTS ASKING RESIDENTS TO CHIP IN ON BIG-MONEY PROJECTS. WANT TO GET TO EVAN ONSTOT NOW WHO IS TRACKING A FEW OF THESE BOND PROPOSALS. THERE’S A LOT OF THEM. REPORTER: THERE IS A LOT OF THEM. LET’S LIST THEM. SAYRE, CANUTE, CANTON, HINTON, CARNEGIE, CASHION, KINGFISHER, LUTHER, OOLAGA-TALALA, I COULD KEEP GOING. AND MANY OF THEM ARE LOOKING TO MAKE SIMILAR TYPES OF IMPROVEMENTS. THESE ARE SOME PICTURES OF WHAT CROOKED OAK SCHOOL DISTRICT PLANS TO BUILD IF RESIDENTS IN SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA CITY VOTE TO APPROVE A $6.8 MILLION BOND. THAT WOULD PAY FOR A RENOVATED MIDDLE SCHOOL BUILDING WITH BETTER SECURITY, AN IMPROVED LIBRARY AND MEDIA CENTER A LANDSCAPED COURTYARD BETWEEN THE BUILDINGS AND A NEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL GYM. IT ALL LOOKS VERY NICE. WE CAUGHT UP WITH CROOKED OAK’S SUPERINTENDENT TODAY. HE SAYS THE DISTRICT HAS ALREADY BENEFITTED FROM SIMILAR SCHOOL BONDS AND HE EXPECTS THAT SUPPORT TO CONTINUE TODAY. >> WE’RE VERY PROUD OF THIS SCHOOL WE GET TREMENDOUS SUPPORT FROM THE COMMUNITY, AND I FEEL BLESSED THAT WE HAVE SUCH A BEAUTIFUL CAMPUS. REPORTER: IF THE BOND PASSES SUPERINTENDENT RICHARDS SAYS HE EXPECTS CONSTRUCTION TO BEGIN AS EARLY AS THE END OF THIS SCHOOL YEAR. THEY WANT TO DO IT WHEN THE KIDS ARE NOT IN SCHOOL. A COMMON THING I’M SEEING IN THESE SCHOOL BOARDS. WORDS LIKE SAFE ROOM SECURITY. SCHOOLS ARE BEING RE-DESIGNED TO KEEP KIDS SAFER FROM STORMS AND, SADLY, ACTIVE SHOOTERS. APP USERS: Click here to get full election results.In Oklahoma County, residents voted in favor of a $6.9 million bond that will fund classroom improvements, more elementary school classrooms, improvements to the secondary school media center and other campus improvements in Crooked Oak Public Schools. Residents also voted in favor of a Luther Public Schools proposition. The newly passed proposition would allow a $25.8 million bond to fund a high school gym and band room, a middle school safe room cafeteria, restrooms and lockers; an elementary school media center safe room, security vestibule, cafeteria upgrades, classroom renovations and other projects and an overhaul of the Vo-Ag barn.See full election results:
