Man Arrested In Connection With Beating Death In Culver City

The beaten body of a man was found on Jackson Avenue in Culver City early Saturday morning.

CULVER CITY, CA — Detectives arrested a suspect in connection with the beating death of a man whose body was found in Culver City Saturday.

Oscar Gonzalez was arrested by Culver City Police Department detectives in Rowland Heights Saturday, CCPD said. He was booked for voluntary manslaughter.

Early Saturday morning at approximately 2:30 a.m., CCPD and the Culver City Fire Department were dispatched to a call of an unresponsive man in the 4000 block of Jackson Avenue in Culver City. When officers arrived, the victim was found dead, CCPD said. Authorities withheld his identity pending the notification of his family.

Detectives quickly learned the victim was assaulted and knocked unconscious. The suspect left the scene before officers arrived, police said.

Detectives plan to present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for filing consideration Tuesday. Gonzalez remains in custody at the Culver City Police Department.
