The Dalton State volleyball team played everyone on their way to a dominating 3-0 performance over home standing Truett-McConnell Tuesday night.
“This is the way we need to play the rest of the season,” Roadrunner Coach Bruna Langner said after the match. “We played well in all phases of the game and we had a chance to play everyone.”
Dalton State (3-1) jumped out to an early lead in the first set and held on for a 25-18 victory. The Roadrunners never trailed and had nice leads throughout the second game, but the final ten point margin at 25-15 was the biggest difference.
Set three was all Dalton State. The largest lead was at 11 - 21-10, 24-13, and the final, 25-14.
“It was a total team effort,” said Langner.
The Roadrunners have two conference games this weekend at B. J. Bandy Gym’s Coach “O” Court. They host Brewton-Parker Friday at 7:00 p.m.
A ceremony recognizing the naming of the court in honor of long time Dalton Junior College educator and Coach Melvyn Ottinger will be held between the second and third sets of the Friday night game. The first 150 fans will be given T-Shirts.
Saturday afternoon’s action will be against powerful University of Coastal Georgia. The Mariners are 8-0 going into a Friday night game at Brenau. Coastal Georgia and Mobile (AL) were tied at the top of the SSAC Pre-Season poll with 95 points and five first place votes each. First serve Saturday is 2:00 p.m.
