Emerson Electric Co. plans to close its Honeoye Falls facility, affecting a staff of nearly 50, the company confirmed Monday.

Branson Ultrasonics Corp. will close its doors Sept. 30, with layoffs occurring on April 30, Sept. 18 and Sept. 30. According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notice filed with the New York State Department of Labor, the company employs some 47 people.

“Emerson announced the closing of its Branson manufacturing facility in Honeoye Falls, N.Y., on January 7, 2020,” said Emerson spokesman Dave Baldridge. “This decision is no reflection on the quality of work by the employees affected by this announcement, who have served our customers and the company well. Closing the Honeoye Falls plant was necessary to better align our operations to serve our customers in the competitive market for our state-of-the-art plastic joining, metal welding and precision cleaning technologies.”

Baldridge said Branson welds plastics using lasers, vibration technologies and hot plate tooling. Emerson is headquartered in St. Louis, Mo., and offers an array of products including automation solutions and heating and air conditioning products for companies in the automotive, packaging and commercial and commercial building and construction industries, among others.
