CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Active COVID-19 cases in West Virginia dropped to 4,550 in numbers reported Tuesday by the state Department of Health and Human Resources.
In the first report since last Friday, the state confirmed 571 new cases but recorded more recovered cases. Active cases haven’t been at the current level since last October.
The DHHR reported five additional coronavirus deaths Tuesday including a 78-year old female from Randolph County, a 92-year old female from Pleasants County, a 78-year old female from Wirt County, a 45-year old male from Kanawha County, and a 65-year old female from Kanawha County.
Overall deaths are now at 2,797.
Hospitalizations remained stead at 207 with 81 patients in ICU.
The federal Centers for Disease Control said Monday that 58.7% of those 12 and older in the state have had at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
