Actors Theatre of Louisville announced Monday it would cut nine of its full-time positions as part of an organizational restructuring, our news partner Louisville Business First reports.The administrative and operational layoffs come in the pursuit of building a financially sustainable business model, according to a statement from Robert Barry Fleming, executive artistic director for Actors Theatre. Fleming added that the performing arts organization aims to create a modern theater experience, which prioritizes the quality of artistic programming alongside the health and wellness of the staff and artists. Actors Theatre reached approximately 126,192 patrons in its 2018-19 season. In 2018, the theater received a grant of $872,500 from Fund for the Arts, a regional nonprofit supporting arts organizations, and operated on a budget of $9.75 million for the 2018-19 season.
