Just Far Enough Getaway is a private 3-bedroom/2 bathroom vacation rental house on a 20-acre Christmas tree farm in rural Hampshire County, West Virginia (just below the Eastern Panhandle/45-minutes west of Winchester VA).

The house features a fully-equipped kitchen, eat-at counter plus dining table, furnished deck with gas grill, TV with satellite service, DVD-player, wireless internet, washer & dryer, all linens are provided. Electric heat (plus a wood stove with front opening and screen to use like a fireplace for winter enjoyment), window air conditioners, ceiling fans. Master bedroom has queen bed, private bathroom with shower and TV. 2nd bedroom has double bed and shares bathroom with tub with 3rd bedroom, which has twin beds. Living room has queen sleep-sofa.

Located 4 miles from US Rt 50, on a paved road. 2-1/2 hours from downtown DC, 1 hour from Cumberland, MD, 25 minutes from historic Romney and The Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad. 10 minutes to Ice Mountain National Natural Landmark. 20 minutes to Fort Edwards Visitor Center (French & Indian War interpretive site).

Quiet, relaxing, comfortable and affordable. A good base for many day trips in region (several state parks: Canaan Valley, Blackwater Falls, Lost River, Cacapon and Berkeley Springs State Parks; plus Dolly Sods Wilderness Area, Smoke Hole Caverns, Seneca Rocks and Seneca Caverns, the C&O Canal/Paw Paw Tunnel, and George Washington National Forest), Golf available at several courses within 1-hour drive. Also a good location for small family reunions, gatherings with college pals, and other groups of friends.

Our base rate covers the first two guests. Each guest thereafter (over 12 years of age) is a modest additional fee per night. Local lodging taxes and state sales taxes (9%) and the FlipKey fee are included in your total.

We live across a wide lawn--near enough to be handy but far enough away to afford you plenty of privacy. Just Far Enough Getaway is along a quiet paved road and has plenty of parking.

Interaction with guest

As your booking nears I will be in touch to confirm expected arrival time. Your party will be the only guests in the house, which is across a wide lawn from our home. If we are around we will greet you and provide an orientation to the house. If not, we will arrange for the house to be unlocked for you and a welcome memo with details about the house, internet access, etc. will be on the kitchen counter with the keys. Generally we are available by cell if something comes up, and when we are away, a neighbor's contact information is provided for assistance.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Shari (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
